    What makes it fun

The story of the 2 Vereins Kirche buildings is beautifully portrayed at the Vereins Kirche Museum. The narrative unfolds from the perspective of the Vereins Kirche, tracing its origins back to the early German settlers in Texas and extending all the way to modern-day Fredericksburg. The original Vereins Kirche was a versatile structure that occupied a prominent position on Main Street for half a century (1847-1897). The building served as a hub for the community, providing a space for worship, education, and gatherings. The original building was torn down in 1897. The replica Vereins Kirche, which you see today, was completed in 1935 through a collaboration between the Gillespie County Historical Society and the Works Progress Administration during FDR’s presidency.

Trust me, not worth it, just some boring German stuff inside. Why go here when you can go get drunk and eat schnitzel.

Small but fine museum about the history of the city, primarily told from the perspective of the association church. For a comprehensive history, however, you should go to the Pioneer Museum. There you get a double ticket for both museums anyway

Small museum and small gift shop in Fredericksburg TX. In a town with lots of museums, talking with the volunteer was incredibly informative. It is part of the museum bundle with the Pioneer reconstructed town. The volunteer also shared additional areas that we might want to visit in this beautiful historic town. This was our 3rd visit to Fredericksburg and there will be more to come.

Nothing against the place itself, but the woman there was something else. She belittled the other museum in town (which is about WWII, i remind you). She kept interjecting while I was talking with my family, wanted to charge a baby for entry to the museum (who does that?), but worst of all...My mother, to be polite, kept talking with the woman. She asked where my mither was visiting from (a place in Texas near Tyler). When my mom told her where she was from, the woman said "oh, i know that town. It's in X county."My mom replies "no, its in Y county.""No, that's not right. Its in X county."Yeah... like my mom doesn't know where she lives. She then would not stop talking as we were leaving and tried to guilt trip us into signing the guest log.Yeah... I don't know if she was having a bad day or something, but she really needs to check her attitude.

Part of the Pioneer Museum, the Vereins Kirche Museum focuses on the history of Fredericksburg and the Meusebach-Comanche Treaty. Excellent presentations and beautiful grounds. It is a few blocks from the Pioneer Museum but I would recommend visiting both of the museums. You can buy tickets at either location and they are good for both.

Loved this place! I recommend that we go to the other museum as well so we got a pass for both for a sweet deal.

Wished this would've been open when we seen the lights & Christmas display! The decorations & lights were beautiful! And because of covid I'm glad they did the opening & light program every night, so we were able to attend! Pictures don't show the beauty or the size! Just beware, there's not many places open downtown after 6pm to eat, and those that are have over an hour wait! It wasmainstream! Way to end a day of shopping through downtown mainstreet!
