    What makes it fun

Immerse yourself in the rich history of the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm. When the aroma of dinner wafts from a wood-burning stove, you know you're getting close! You'll discover shelves brimming with homemade preserved goods, while park rangers donning historical attire tend to the farm and every day farm chores like feeding the livestock, milking the cows, collecting eggs, and slopping the hogs. Inside the house, there are tasks that need to be taken care of, such as cooking, cleaning, and churning. You may observe individuals from the "family" engaging in activities such as tending to the garden, practicing their skills in the blacksmith shop, or knitting. Step back in time with your sweetheart for an educational and memorable experience at the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm.

This place is cool! This place was an audible from visiting another place and it did not disappoint and I'm glad we stopped here!

I'm a history buff so to see how early Settlers lived all the way from growing crops, raising animals, and cooking was cool and to be able to pet the baby cow and other animals (if they walk up to you of course) was a great experience I wasn't expecting. The park isn't as big as I thought it would be but still I have no complaints. I would definitely take my family here again. And bring my little cousins next time.

If. You come to Fredericksburg you must come here. Step back in time and see how they did it in the 1800s.

So enjoyable for adults and kids. Staff explained about the history of the area and life on a farm in the 1800's.

It's called a living history museum and it really is! You can get a very good idea of what life was like back during this time period. Plus, there are people dressed in authentic period clothing that will answer any questions that you might have. Such a wonderful experience! We loved all the farm animals especially the turkeys. I had never been up close to one before, and they have the most amazing little sounds beside their gobble! We had parked in the visitor center and walked to the farmhouse. It is a short walk through the woods from there. We toured the house and the barn and saw the HUGE okra that was grown in their garden and the MASSIVE sweet potato. It really makes you appreciate life today when you see how difficult it must have been to live without the modern conviences that we take for granted.

Such a neat place to visit! The staff working the farm are so knowledgeable on the history of the place and seem to really love what they do. Getting to see the farm animals, the vegetables they grow and the food they were preparing was cool.
