Mendelbaum Cellars was a great little vineyard with a very personable and quaint atmosphere. The person conducting the wine tasting was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, and informative, especially when explaining the regions of Israel from which the wines originated. Each tasting felt like a small journey through the Holy Land, with the history, geography, and character of the region thoroughly explained along the way. The facility was very clean, the winery was well maintained, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and enjoyable. Another thing I greatly appreciated was not running into the endless bachelorette parties that can ruin the atmosphere at other vineyards with loud entrances, screaming, belligerent drunken rants, and women swinging from the hanging lights like animals. Sometimes you just want to enjoy good wine, good conversation, and actually learn something about what you’re drinking. Biblically speaking, Jesus turned water into wine—yes. But He certainly didn’t lead by example by getting drunk. Scripture allows wine and speaks of enjoying it with gladness, but drunkenness is another matter entirely. Drinking to be merry is one thing. Drinking for the purpose of getting drunk is another. Peter understood this very well: “For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.” — 1 Peter 4:3 (NKJV) “In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.” — 1 Peter 4:4 (NKJV) And if you don’t think that’s biblical, come at me—I’ll show you my biblical namesake! Andrew knew Peter pretty well. After all, they were brothers! Overall, Mendelbaum Cellars provided exactly what I want from a wine tasting: good wine, a peaceful setting, knowledgeable conversation, and an experience that actually teaches you something about where the wine comes from. I would gladly visit again.

Came here for a taste and left with a unforgettable memory. I truly loved all the wine we sampled whether it be in the sweet side or dry side. Francisco was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about each wine he presented. We can’t wait to come back for the warmth, experience, and atmosphere!

We made a random stop and it turned out to be the best of the day. The property is right off the highway but it still feels cozy and quiet. We were the only customers at the time so we were able to experience every nook and cranny. We tried the olive oil tasting station: so good. The oils were very bold and flavorful. Yes, we bought a bottle. Wine tasting was full of great history and very meaningful. I enjoyed The Wedding, a Merlot dry red wine. My husband liked The old City sweet red, Riesling. They have a Sauvignon Blanc, Transfiguration, that was also good. The host was so welcoming and knowledgeable of every aspect. The outside property offers more seating and space to relax and enjoy peaceful moments.

Visited this winery on a wine tour. The winery had some tables setup for our group to be seated for our tasting experience and lunch. Unfortunately some of the other guests on our tour were treated awful in front of the entire group by the supposed owner Fernando. The ladies ask a question and he immediately replied with a catty remark telling them they needed to sit at the 2 designated tables and that they didn’t need to sit together because “this isn’t high school”. The entire tour group witnessed this, to which he then proceeded to say “the door works both ways…”. We hadn’t been here more than 10 mins. The vibe change. The tour went from fun and lively to quiet and cautious. He later also made a few rude comments to some of us while the food was being handed out and someone asked a question about what they ordered for lunch. None of which warranted a rude response to simple questions. It was an easy decision to not buy any products from this guy even despite his poor attempt to salvage potential business from this group of 28. There’s more but the bottom line is that he was rude and while I’d like to say his product spoke for itself, it doesn’t. Will never return here.

Came for a birthday trip. Host with gray and white beard (Hispanic male) was extremely rude to my group. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time with such a rude host.

Second stop on a wine tour. We were served an Italian meal of our choosing. Food was pretty good but served in foil and Styrofoam. Tastings were slow to come and no water was provided. They had a water dispenser at the bar with tiny cups to serve yourself. I liked the rose and one of the whites, but was put off by the political tone of the owner's introduction which also seemed to drag on. The esthetic was my fave...lovely interior and beautiful courtyard. I did find it rather odd, though, to see cellar promoting wines made exclusively in Israel from the heart if Texas wine country. I just don't get it.

Such a nice time at Mendelbaum. We stayed in their large parking area in our rv for the night. Had a great tasting with fantastic service and bought several bottles. Love the wine and the labels. Viewed the fire ring eclipse the next morning. Thanks for the hospitality and wine!

Great atmosphere and great wine! The Dead Sea Blush was a total favorite of our entire party. I celebrated my 50 there with about 20 family and friends. It was a special experience!

We stopped in on a Monday and paid $25 for a tasting for one. The gentleman was very knowledgeable about the wines and the winery and we ended our tasting by buying 3 bottles.

Our private tasting was not only fun, but educational. Our host provided not only an informative discussion about each of the wines offered, but was amazingly knowledgeable about the history of wine making in Israel from ancient times until now. Beautiful facility, interesting wines. Well worth a visit.

If you're looking for something a little unique in the area, I would recommend this winery. Israeli wines aren't widely available and there are so many options to try here. The tasting room was also beautiful. There are both dry and sweet wine options so there is something for everyone. There was also the option to try Israeli olive oil, which was also a nice treat.
