TheHill Country doesn't get any more magical than Blue Skies. Long time listener, first time caller. I've always known they've done amazing things and had incredible stays out here, including from my partner who planned a full buy out for his buddy's bachelor party and they had a great time. My stay out here was nothing less than perfect.
The property is perfectly situated between Fredericksburg and Llano and lets you have the best of both worlds. IFYKY. Easy to pop into either town for a meal, provisions, or drinks, but if you want to spend more time in either, I recommend using a service like Weinheimer Tours to take care of the transportation safely. (Although, there's no real need to go into town other than for some basics.)
Blue Skies has the best night skies, unobstructed from town lights, providing the perfect view of stars and the moon on clear nights. The pavilion is a perfect place to gather as a group for a dinner, intimate concert, or a haven to enjoy your beverages over conversation. For the daytime, enjoy the pool and the slow mornings of the TX Hill Country.
If you want to venture out during the daytime, you have to go to Enchanted Rock, one of the most naturally pristine epicenters of why the TX Hill Country is so environmentally and culturally rich. This massive granite rock comes with stories of indigenous ceremonies and reverence, a place for hikers to see the vast view and landscapes of the hill country, and allows you to have a moment in nature unlike anything else. Wear shoes with good grip, pack some snacks, and enjoy the time. It probably takes about 45 minutes for a full climb depending on mobility, and with no rails or direct trails to get to the summit. When you make it to the top, it's nice to sit and take in the views, perfect for a light picnic.
Enchanted Rock is just about 10 minutes up the road from Blue Skies, showcasing its landmark location between everything you want to experience when you make your way west of Austin/San Antonio. Don't forget, Enchanted Rock State Park now requires a reservation in advance and most months of the year, you want to be finished with your hike by 11am.
Back to Blue Skies - the trailers are quaint, cozy and so perfectly comfy. It's great for a couple who wants to share a bed or a solo stay, but there is a daybed available in a few of the trailers if that's more comfortable. The AC is incredible in each trailer, and the mini fridge is somewhere between mini and full size. Enough to hold a few gallons of bottled water jugs, plenty of wine, and lots of snacks. The Pavilion area is spacious and lots of outlets for power, so great to set up for a concert, dinner, or other activities for the group.
The dreamiest part is probably the bathroom. Each trailer comes with its own personal bathroom. It's spacious, luxurious, and so well air conditioned. Enjoy a cozy robe, an outdoor shower, incredible natural lighting - ideal if you need to put on some make up, and a WC area with a door closure if you want some privacy from anyone you may be sharing a trailer with. (Please note, each trailer has its own bathroom and you are not sharing with strangers. Close walk and not far). The outdoor shower is made extra dreamy with fresh growing green plants and succulents, giving you the aroma of outdoors without having to decrease your luxury to a primitive camp experience. How they create the best of both worlds I will never know, but I certainly appreciate it!
With 5 trailers on the property, it's ideal for a birthday hang with friends, annual family trip with friends, or just a getaway with a friend or partner. You will not find a better price for accommodations anywhere in the Hill Country area, let alone with the privacy, glamour, and charm of why you want to enjoy this part of Texas in the first place.
It's quiet. It's serene. It's the perfect Texas Hill Country experience. If I had my perfect life, I'd be out here every weekend with my friends and family cheers'ing under the stars, celebrating life, and cherishing our time in nature (with indoor plumbing).
