    What makes it fun

The German word for "tourist" is "Auslander," which also means "outsider" or "foreigner." For more than two decades, the Auslander Restaurant and Biergarten has maintained its status as one of the city of Fredericksburg's most well-liked places to dine. The Auslander, which can be found in the center of old Fredericksburg, is a restaurant that serves some of the greatest examples of classic German food. The restaurant specializes in the cuisine of the state of Bavaria, which is located in the south-eastern part of Germany. We encourage you to make yourself comfortable and take advantage of everything that we have to offer.

We had a lovely lunch. Our waiter was super nice gave us some helpful recommendations. We ate outside on the patio which is covered and shady and dog friendly. Would definitely go back!

Ahhh... German food is comfort food for this Krautfrau. I had the Jaeger schnitzel, German Potato Salad, and sauerkraut, with a side of Chardonnay. Heavenly. Peggy had the potato soup and goulash with a side of Cab and she said it was delish. We're here for two nights, and I intend to eat here again!

The atmosphere is a little old and needs updating to be more authentic german. The outside tables need to be replaced. They're old cracked weather worn and the floor inside needs to be updated. It's hard for handicapped to walk through the gravel.

So disappointed you now longer have cabbage rolls. Decided to stay & try something else on the menu. The disappointment continued our waitress Isabel was unfriendly and the food poor

Me and my husband just left here and we had a fabulous time here I ordered the grilled chicken plate so good I normally go for something I'm more comfortable eating but this time I ventured out on something new and was definitely worth it

Loved the feel and decor of the restaurant. We visited on a Saturday and expected a wait but service was fast and friendly with a smile. I had the German potato soup for an appetizer and it was amazing. I ordered the Jägerschnitzel, it was crispy, thick, juicy and delicious. The German potato salad was a little too vinegary for me. I wish I had room for the strudel maybe next visit because I will be back. Overall we had an excellent dining experience.

Uh-mazing! I go to Fredericksburg once or twice a year for the past decade and somehow never stumbled into this great place until now! Order and eat all of it! The menu is pork heavy, so if you don’t do pork, the options are a little slim, but it still tastes all so good! Try the fried pickles!

I got a "hunter" schnitzel that has red wine mushrooms gravy on it and it was perfect. Meat was thick unlike usual schnitzel but it was tender and juicy so I still loved it. It was "different" from schnitzel I had in the past but I'm not saying it was a bad thing, it was unique and I actually liked it thick as long as it was tender and juicy. It was cruncy on the outside and real tender on the meat. Smoked sausage was amazing as well. It was even better with spicy mustard and German beer. Every single side menu was amazing too. Buttered corn was sweet and rich, potato salad was not too sour and was perfectly cooked & seasoned. mashed potato was so good and I normally hate mashed potatos. I definitely recommend this place for anyone who's traveling or living in local areas
