    What makes it fun

Settlers Crossing showcases seven charming historic homes, each adorned with cozy fireplaces and a delightful collection of country antiques from the 18th and 19th centuries. The magnificent country estate, located a short distance from downtown Fredricksburg, spans more than 35 acres of majestic oak trees, picturesque pastures, and vibrant flower gardens, complete with a charming creek that winds its way through the property. We have a complete setting with Paco the donkey, a flock of sheep, and our resident native deer freely roaming around. Come unwind and relax in our charming rustic setting.

The Kusenberger Log Cabin at Settlers Crossing if a very unique home and worthy of a visit. It is an original homestead dog-run style building, remodeled with a bathroom closing up the center of the early build. Many of the primitive elements have been maintained and are very interesting. We did enjoy our stay but wished that there had been mention of the low doorway and beams clearance we would encounter. The write-up also mentioned a fireplace and loft, neither of which should be considered anything more than decorative.

The property is corporate managed, with what appears to be required linens. Although the towels were nice and fluffy, the white-on-white bed linens and duvet seemed esthetically out of place. The sheets were a synthetic blend and slept hot. The shower curtain and liner should be shortened to improve their appearance and liner cleanliness. Overall, the cabin was clean, but a final make-ready person for the day of check-in did not appear to have been utilized as there was much bug debris in the tub and sink.

The 35-acre property was very peaceful with sheep and deer roaming freely. There was also a donkey. Maintaining these many acres and eight homes must be very difficult; I'm hoping that a grounds keeping/maintenance crew has been scheduled to address some items that will keep this treasure enjoyable for decades to come.

We absolutely loved our stay here!!! The cabin was very clean and comfortable. Check in and check out was extremely easy and simple. We enjoyed watching the local wildlife pass by each morning as well as the herd of sheep. Its close proximity to Fredericksburg makes this very affordable place a fun and special place to stay. We highly recommend it!

    Great stay!

Contactless check in and check out was a plus if you’re looking to stay somewhere with no stress and no interaction.

Dakota sent us emails throughout the stay to ensure everything was going well and was quick to respond if we had any concerns.

We stayed in the Kusenberger Cabin which comfortably hosts a couple of two. The cabin was comfortable and full of history with original stone floors and construction. Every morning we had sheep greet us outside the cabin which were friendly. There is full electricity, water, etc. inside. No WiFi, but we had great cell service(Verizon). If you’re here for WiFi, you’re not enjoying the experience! Hangars, toiletries, soap, shampoo, utensils, dishware all was included in the cabin. All in all the location is quiet and peaceful.

The site is a short drive from downtown Fredericksburg, there’s a gas station just around the corner, and multiple winery’s within a mile or two.

My husband and I recently decided to visit Fredricksburg. When browsing rentals we came across Settlers Crossing. With 35 acres and 8 homes available to book, its only minutes from the bustling Historic District. Our stay at the Von Heindrich started with a calvary of goats and their donkey friend greeting us as we drove in.  After hellos we moved along the path to our German fachwerk cabin. It was love at first sight. From the restful outdoor rockers where we sat and watched the deer at night to the gated front yard where the crafty goats snuck in to enjoy a breakfast of grass each morning. Inside, the living room was brimming with history while the kitchen and bathroom were simple and appropriate to the traditional feel of the cabin. The 2nd floor was probably my favorite part of the cabin. The two bedrooms were beautifully curated with pieces from days long gone. An antique armoire and 4 poster bed, a church pew and a wing back chair were highlights of the primary. The 2nd room housed a smaller double bed with a very comfy mattress, a quirky green bench, a secretary, and a plethora of vintage encyclopedias.
We loved every second of our time here and were sad to say goodbye to this great home full of character. We most certainly will return and can't wait to experience the other homes on the property. Thank you Settlers Crossing for the wonderful chance to relax and recharge!

I realize the appeal of the homes being very old but most people expect things like at least one hanger, an iron, and definitely WiFi. I just got here and now I have to get back in my car and drive somewhere after driving 4 hours to do a little work. I won’t stay here again.

We just wrapped up a four-night stay at Settlers Crossing. We had been hoping to return since our last stay around nine years ago, and we were not disappointed. Both times, we stayed in the frontier cabin. It's a nice place, spotlessly clean and full of historic charm. The beds are comfortable. The ranch itself is peaceful and interesting, and we enjoy seeing the animals that roam its acres. Melissa is very helpful and accommodating. The location is great, too, very close to Fredericksburg, which has a lot to see and do and plenty of restaurants. It's also close to Enchanted Rock, which makes for a great day trip.

A picturesque a safe place surrounded by green and native nature...worthwhile! We enjoyed almost 4 days with my son visiting the vineyard country. A very comfortable cabin with all the amenities and goodies any visitor would expect.

I have travel worldwide for business and personal reasons and this is a UNIQUE place!

This was a Mother, Daughter & Granddaughter weekend. We stayed in the Bohl Cabin and we enjoyed ourselves so very much! The Donkey (we called Pedro) and the Sheep welcomed us every day. We are looking forward to staying in another one of your homes.

I've stayed in several properties in the hill country and this is by far my favorite. It's away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to enjoy all that Fredericksburg has to offer. Wineries are within a mile, Main Street a short 10 minutes and Luckenbach less than 5 minutes

Just had a wonderful weekend getaway at Settlers Crossing. My husband and I arrived with our pup to a precious little cabin that was perfect for our family. We loved wondering around the property and seeing all of the wildlife, especially the mini donkey! Check in was easy as could be and our little cabin was stocked with the essentials. We have already booked another stay and cannot wait to come back with our friends in a couple of months! 10/10 would recommended!
