What makes it fun
The Pedernales Cellars Estate Tasting Room is located on 145 acres of oak-shaded land in Texas Hill Country, the wine industry's hub, with stunning vistas of the Pedernales River Valley. In the early 1990s, Larry and Jeanine Kuhlken established their first vineyard near Fredericksburg. After a while, the Kuhlken vineyard produced high-quality fruit with powerful flavors. In 2005, Larry and Jeanine's children David and Julie started planning Pedernales Cellars. Based on Kuhlken Vineyards' success, they created a boutique winery that makes handcrafted, small-lot wines with Texas Hill Country-adapted varietals. Pedernales Cellars was named after the Texas Hill Country's Pedernales River and the Spanish word for flint.
