What makes it fun

Lawrence Segner built the Pecan Grove Store in 1957. He constructed a Sinclair Service Station as well as a store and garage for himself. In the grove, he would entertain guests by playing the accordion and hosting dances on the weekends. Matt Martin, the current owner, was born in Texas and grew up in the Hill Country. He was later an exchange studen in Fredericksburg's sister city, Montabaur, Germany then graduated and earned his high school degree from Fredericksburg High School. Matt worked with his parents to repair the store after completing his collegiate studies. Come out and enjoy live music in the shade of the Biergarten while snacking on a delicious Dino Burger and sipping on a cold beer or glass of hill country wine.

i had such high hopes. We saw them all over Facebook and the burgers looked great. In addition to the great food, the building seemed pretty cool and nostalgic.

Arriving showed limited parking, but that’s not even on my radar.

We grabbed drinks and ordered our food. Two burgers, large fries, two bottled sodas. $50 and change. I was shocked a bit, but if the food was good…ok…let’s go.

We waited. And waited. And waited. At about the 30 minute mark, we were told a large call in order came in, and “sorry ‘bout that”.

We were ready to leave and ask for a refund when they told us our food was ready.

Disappointing does not begin to cover it. The burgers were nothing to look at. The lettuce was sad. They forgot the bacon on mine (which I paid extra for). The first bite was 100% off putting. The patty was completely unseasoned. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

I ate half of it, and just put it back in the bag. My wife took a bite and that was it. It was not worth the calories. We ate the french fries, but at $9.50 for a large fries, they were remarkably mediocre.

I spent 5 guys money and got something that was a hodgepodge of Sysco/BenE Keith that was executed poorly. A toddler with a playskool kitchen would have done better.

Ranking burgers I have had that are better than Pecan Grove Store’s.

If I was riding or driving on a cruise and stopped there to eat…I would be mad.

The atmosphere was Ok. People were waiting, many as long as we had. You could feel stress.

Maybe they need to worry about the quality of their food (especially at that price) than the live music they have playing.

Who is calling this the best burger they’ve ever had? Where else have you gone? You need to get out more.

Will not go back.

Worst experience we’ve had in a long time!! It was our first time visiting the Pecan Grove Store. Feels like a fun, historical building but the burgers were not good. We feel so deceived by previous reviews. It look them 45 minutes to get us our 2 burgers and fries. The burger patty had no seasoning and was very bland. A tiny piece of white bib lettuce with a nothing special bun. I was thankful that at least the seasoned fries were good so I didn’t leave hangry and had something to eat. I took one bite of the burger and spit it out. Not worth the hype nor the drive!! Very disappointed!

Came for the bike show and arrived early was able to get food ordered and drinks before the crowd. Had some awesome vintage motorcycles. Just an enjoyable time overall. Wife had the chicken nuggets and boy was there plenty just not a lot a seasoning, reason for the 4 , had a cheese burger that was awesome ! but overall had a great time and always do when we stop.

The beer is cold. The food is phenomenal.....and the service is even better! Wish I knew the name of the band when we were there. They were great!

My family and I have eaten there a lot. I love the atmosphere, which brings me back to the old days when it was a station and I was a kid. The workers/owners are great people, and the food has always been great. In the beginning, the service was slow, but they got more staff, and it is a lot faster now. In my opinion, they have the best burger in Fredericksburg, and the people there are awesome. It's definitely worth a try.

Went to wing Wednesday. Menu said 7 wings $13. I asked girl taking orders if it was 7 whole wings. She said yes. OK, not a bad price for 7 whole wings. Order came and it was 7 wing pieces, which is only 3 1/2 wings. They came with very little sauce. What a rip off. Never again.

Great little out of the way place. Staff very friendly and some excellent burgers. Have to stop during the summer some day to catch some outside music! Definitely recommended!

Wish I would have tried it sooner.one of the best burgers I've ever had. Really neat looking place, great staff and great food. A tad cramped on the inside but plenty of outdoor seating. Will definitely be coming back!

We stopped for lunch here so we could use their free EV chargers and had a great meal in a great space! People were jamming in the biergarten and it seemed like they hold events often.

They have a special Wednesday Wing menu and a special Sunday menu. We got pulled pork on Sunday but will have to come back to try their burgers!

The staff and owner were also very friendly and helpful.

The Best lemon pepper wings I have ever eaten. Period. Jamaican Jerk wings were outstanding with all others well above the Big Name chains. As I understand wings and only wings and a couple of sandwiches on Wednesday with a slightly expanded menu through Saturday. A local icon.

Always wanted to stop but wrong days going by but not today. Hughes burgers!!! Great outside tables.
We enjoyed being there. We stayed longer than expected we really relaxed. Will make sure we get our days right more now.

The bartender bite may be the best burger I’ve ever had. 1/2 lb burgers with a monster slice of cheese and cherry pepper spread and spicy sauce… the flavor profile is incredible and it does have some heat to it. You’ll need lots of napkins, but you won’t be disappointed. It’s worth going out of your way for.

They also have bottled/ canned beer, decent fries, and a super nice outdoor area.

Learned about this place when we asked a local where we should grab dinner, and we’re definitely glad we took the recommendation! The restaurant is in an old Sinclair gas station, and the vibe is so fun. They have a pool table in the car bay and few dart boards inside. The food is classic American fare with a solid burger and DELICIOUS seasoned fries. Can’t go wrong. Oh, and for the gluten intolerant folks, they also offer gluten free buns. And impossible burgers. Really something for everyone!
