    What makes it fun

The National Museum of the Pacific War (NMPW) is widely acknowledged as a prestigious cultural institution. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and affiliated with the Smithsonian, NMPW offers a comprehensive account of World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific theater. In keeping with its commitment to Admiral Nimitz's promise of honoring all those who served and supported the war effort in the Pacific, the Museum is dedicated to presenting the facts, stories, and genuine artifacts of the Pacific War for present and future generations. The galleries and main components of the campus of the National Museum of the Pacific War are properties of the State of Texas and overseen by the Texas Historical Commission (THC).

Excellent historical coverage of forces leading to WW2 along with Timeline exhibits tracing sequence of major events of war. Good supplement to what we saw at WW2 museum on New Orleans and the Pearl Harbor exhibit in Hawaii. I feel it would be beneficial for anyone to learn about this part of world history.

One of the better museums that I’ve ever attended. Extremely informative, and filled with items that really bring home the experience of the Pacific theater

This is an excellent museum full of the most important history of WWII. Mainly focused on the Pacific fights, it was very well curated with tons of exhibits and videos. It's a lot bigger than I thought with well-preserved artifacts and photos from the war. I was surprised with all the submarine exhibits and references. The Japanese zen garden was cool, and the dedication memorials outside were really well done. I would highly recommend it, but plan to spend a few hours here to really enjoy it.

I visited this place few. Weeks ago. It has a great historic value. You can see a submarine in your own eye. Also, there is a simulation.

I was visiting Kerrville, TX for a family reunion and noticed a brochure for the Pacific War Museum in the lobby of the hotel. Immediately, I was thinking, Why is the Pacific War Museum located in Fredericksburg, TX? Well, I'm not gonna spoil why, so you'll have to come see for yourself and figure it out!! It's a fabulous museum and if you are military, or former military, you get a discount!

Amazing museum with some fantastic exhibits. Set aside at least 4 hours to cover all of it.

This was a wierd combo I came up with, but I loved it! The old fashioned with the house chosen whiskey barrel was perfectly done. The salmon toast was excellent with generous portions. Would highly recommend to the foodies out there.

Really disappointed. I grew up loving visiting the Ninitz museum. I was especially excited years ago when the refurbished the entry to the hotel to look like the old front desk of the hotel - complete with an original guest registration book. They also had 2 rooms staged upstairs to see what the old hotel used to look like. . . . Now theyve torn out all that. And the museum itself, instead of being filled with talking news reals, staged war rooms, and old radio broadcasts . . . now feels like I'm walking through a boring history book and have to read each page to figure out what the significance of anything is instead of being shown. The reinactment at the field is the only part of the museum that shows any imagination. It's wonderful! PLEASE put the hotel entry back in order, and liven up the displays like they used to be! History can be fun!

For anyone who wants to visually see and hear the war in the Pacific this is a must see. So much information. We were there for several hours and only saw about 1/3 .

Emotional - great clear information. Sets the scene historically from 1800s and takes you through Nimitz and WW2 in an understandable way. We spent about hour and a half and would happily have stayed longer if we'd had time. Paid entry so check current prices. You walk through information boards, can push buttons for extra information and words from those involved, lots of exhibits of vehicles, uniforms and so on, including a submarine. Great restroom facilities, directions are marked if you need to rest or visit restroom during the tour. Fascinating and distressing... as is war.

Super heavy energy in this place. Not bad, just heavy. Military and senior discounts help the expensive ticket prices. The museum is dedicated to those who did what they had to do to stay alive and more so for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice on both sides of the belligerent parties. If you're sensitive, this place will drain you. Just know before you go. Great place to visit when your tired of the normal wine and dine the Fburg has to offer. I don't normally cry. The energy here is sad and oppressive. Unfortunately, it's a story that must be told.. Plotted. Scouts Out.

A walk through history! We parked at the visitors center and walked. Traffic was minimum crossing at the intersection.First, the people who attend this museum are really friendly and personable! Second there's a list of discounts available from Veteran(✅) to senior, to student, AND small children are free! The exhibits are really beautifully designed and presented. We loved taking a peak back in time to when the world was in a dire state. Our whole crew really enjoyed how interactive the whole place was. Lots of visual and audio interaction. The artillery pieces, jeep, tanks and aircraft were great photo ops. Also there's a giant replica of an atomic bomb. Everyone was shocked and wow'd there. Really enjoyable experience. Don't forget to walk down the street to the battlefield and PT boat/aircraft exhibits.Although there was not a re-enactment we still enjoyed getting to see the empty battlefield.I highly recommend anyone with an interest in history or military history attend. Veterans will enjoy.

There's no war museum dedicated to the Pacific theater in the United States better than this. Everything is here, from real WWII jeeps, planes, artillery guns, bombs, submarines, and PT boats to fascinating short documentary films explaining the politics, the major battles, and personalities who dominated the headlines. War history buffs could spend days here and not get bored. But, if that's not you, even a quick 2 hour walk through the meandering galleries, inside and outside, is time well spent. It's amazingly comprehensive and a well planned exhibit.

If you are given the chance to go here, take it. This museum is incredible. I left with such a humble heart. The whole experience was very moving and at times surreal. The amount of artifacts they have and the knowledge that was shared was beyond anything I ever expected. We were in here for hours and could have easily spent the day here reading all the stories. It is an inside and outside museum with many things to see. Take it all in.
