    What makes it fun

In 2011, Messina Hof Hill Country Winery opened its doors in Fredericksburg, the second most popular wine tourism destination in the United States. This winery is home to its very own vineyard and encompasses roughly 10 acres of land right in the middle of the Texas wine country along Highway 290. The Lenoir grapes grown here are used to make Messina Hof's more traditional style ports. You can sample over 50 different wines, some of which are reserve wines that are exclusively sold in the Fredericksburg area, in our tasting room.

I love the setup at Messina Hof Hill Country. They use tokens that are exchanged for small glasses in the tasting menu, which allows guests to sit down instead of standing at the bar for an entire tasting. The staff are very helpful, especially Elisabeth, who seemed to know exactly what we would like to try.Had a wonderful time and bought some bottles to take home.

Unfortunately my group of 4 were instantly upset with our first impression. We were not greeted. When we were helped it was Spreesa Wright who came to take our order. We wanted to know if we could have a glass about 15 minutes before they closed. Now I understand that we came in right before close BUT they had more people waiting to get in behind us and a good amount of people in their dinning area. Spreesa was being quick with us and said well do yall know what yall want? But hadn’t even asked us if we had ever visited before and didn’t provide us with a menu. i told her I didn’t know what they had and then Spreesa gave us a menu. We were made to order there and pay there, which if it’s their process that’s fine BUT it seemed unkind and rushed. We went to the bar and got our drinks. Later a nice gentleman was leaving and gave us a token.. we assumed it was a token for a glass of wine. My friend instantly took it to the bar to cash it in and again Spreessa was rude throughout the interaction. My friend wanted to turn in the token for a glass of wine but Spreessa rudely said if I give you a glass I’ll have to charge you for it this is for tasting. My friend said okay well then can I get the tasting and she said yeah your the one with the token and tossed it aside pretty hard. There was no kindness from Spreessa. I hope Spreesa has a better day after getting off work.

I visited Messina Hof Winery on 290 for the 4th time recently and was thoroughly impressed with the exceptional service and exceptional wine offerings. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming, making us feel like valued guests. Our server took the time to explain each of the wines on the menu, but it was their Sparkling Almond Prosecco that truly stole the show. This unique and refreshing wine was a delightful departure from traditional sparkling wines, with its subtle almond notes adding a new dimension of flavor. We paired it with their delicious bruschetta, which was loaded with fresh tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella cheese - a perfect combination that complemented the Prosecco beautifully.

Our Hostest was very accommodating. Wine was good, bar service was ok. Very busy. Clean and nice, not snobby or looking down on walk-ins. Felt welcome.

What an experience! The wife and I drove to Fredericksburg for a “mini moon” and enjoyed Messina Hof immensely. We choose two separate wine tastings including one of the bread and butter pairing. Joel was very kind - he noticed we had one wine overlapping in our two tastings and recommended an alternative that we loved. We enjoyed it so much we purchased a bottle. Thank you Joel! Highly recommend Messina Hof Hill Country.

Update: Amazing customer service! Perla at the Hill Country location was extremely helpful and accommodating! She reached out to me the same night I was having issues and worked with the Bryan TX location to offer a full refund within 48 hours. Also offered a complimentary wine tasting and tour where she would personally lead us through the vineyard to taste the grapes before they are harvested! All in all, she went above and beyond and did everything in her power to correct the situation. Not to mention, she was super sweet and accommodating on the phone about answering any questions I had and was able to update our party size for the visit no problem. It’s amazing to know that people like her still exist in the world and we’re all super existed to visit!__________Website is purposely misleading. Completely ruined my Fredericksburg trip. Bought 8 tickets for the harvest festival only to find out the tickets are for the Bryan TX location 3 hours away when hotel and other bookings are all in Fredericksburg. Website allows you to click on the Hill Country Location in which all following prompts to purchase are complexly void of location (thus emphasizing it must be the hill country location you clicked). Every step of the way tries to trick you (ie. Prominently listing all harvest types with the words “hill country harvest festival” besides it). The fact that all harvests take place in Bryan Texas with the exception of the Sept 1-2 harvest is hidden in fine print. I am unenthusiastic about the prospect of getting a refund and the expectant failure of management to take any correcting action. However, I will update if they decide to do the right thing and refund the amount vs. stealing close to $400 when there is ample notice, time, and ability to authorize a refund given the event is still a month away. No refunds for the tickets are emphasized. Now I understand why. I feel extremely scammed and taken advantage by such a money hungry company.

Beautiful ambiance. Nice trinkets and gifts you can pick up as keepsakes for yourself and or others. A friend had a membership, so we shared a bottle of wine. It was very light, airy and delicious. They had a nice covered patio area with a singer as well who took song request. I would go back to visit again.
