What makes it fun

Our coffee journey started in 2011 when Daniel Raymer first roasted coffee on the stake bed of a vintage 1946 Ford truck. Daniels' original Ranch Road Roasters celebrated the picturesque back roads surrounding Fredericksburg, with every roast and unique global origin telling its own captivating tale, from the enticing aroma to the distinct flavor profile. In the Fall of 2018, Caliche Coffee came to life as Daniel graciously imparted his knowledge and personal coffee roasting techniques with us while we transformed a historic building on the west end of Main Street into a warm and inviting community hub for Fredericksburg. For our Caliche family, we have a lighthearted approach, while also recognizing the significant positive influence that coffee can have on a community.

We went here twice during our trip to Fredericksburg, and both times we're average. The staff was extremely friendly, but the location is small, and it's crowded and loud. Both times, our order was messed up. I can understand the first time as our order was very large. However, the second time, we only ordered one thing as everyone else wanted to go to a different coffee shop.During our first visit, I ordered a dirty chai latte. The drink had hardly any chai in it. It was basically milk and espresso with a splash of chai. Unimpressed.Funny enough, we also ordered a regular chai and it was so sweet. Like melted ice cream. My MIL is the type to order triple syrup in her starbucks drinks so she loved it.Someone else in our party ordered a vanilla latte and they gave him a hot chocolate. The cashier very minimally argued that he did order a hot chocolate. (He didn't.) But the batista kindly made him his correct drink.We went the next day and ordered 1 thing. We waited almost 30 minutes. Watched dozens of people go in and out. When asked about our order, they had lost our ticket.The food was ok at best.My husband threw away his entire mocha latte because he said it tasted like pure chocolate syrup. My parents just got regular coffee. They said it was OK.So out of 8 drinks, only satisfied person was my MIL with her chai.

I was running a Favor to this place and got treated like garbage. 2 people were served ahead of me and my bowl of grits sat on the counter for 5 minutes. She made me come to another counter instead of serving me like everyone else at the to go counter. Smugly told me to have a nice Thanksgiving. So rude!!!

This was my favorite meal the whole time I was in town! The matcha was delicious and the avocado toast was insane. Prices were more than reasonable, staff was friendly and warm, and everything was delicious. 10/10

Friendly staff made the visit a pleasure. Latte was wonderful, from a Lamarzocco machine.I thoroughly recommend this shop for delicious upscale coffee.

Excellent coffee shop in Fredericksburg! The burritos are delicious. Very large and good to share and the cappuccinos we had were so good we went back the next day for another one. But I’d say best of all, the people that work there are extremely nice. Great place.

Very nice spot, great vibes and well made coffee… However, I bought a bag of the Tenebris Blend, roasted April 1st. Gave it a week or so to de-gas, and it is frankly the absolute most inconsistent bean that I’ve ever put through my espresso machine. I’m not sure if it was just the batch I got or something wrong with the roasting process/quality assurance, but I’m halfway through the bag and I still can NOT pull a drinkable shot with it. Grind settings, dosage adjustments, distribution, VERY consistent tamp pressure - nothing seems to get me close to a good pull time, it’s either WAY too high or insanely short. And either way, it usually burns and leaves a tarry substance on my puck screen and portafilter. It sucks more because it’s delicious if I get lucky and pull an even decent shot.As someone who’s done barista work, I’ve come to the conclusion that the only major factor in these frustrations must be the roast itself. I really hope I got a particularly bad bag, and that this is not common for their products.In short, I recommend this spot for the in house coffee and knowledgeable baristas… but I would look elsewhere for your beans, as this roaster has some apparent consistency issues to work through - at least as far as I’ve been able to tell.

Was looking for a cute coffee shop with good coffee and was recommended by a TikTok. We took a chance and were not disappointed! The coffee is delicious (more on the light to medium roast) and the pastries were divine (very yummy)! Employees were so nice and patient, even with the amount of customers they were getting. The baristas was so accommodating & sweet when asked if I could have a bit more flavor in my drink. Places like this deserve the hype. Love it & will visit again! :)

Excellent little coffee shop with very friendly staff and a charming interior! The coffee is delicious it’s smooth and sweet and a bit fruity without overpowering! I would definitely be a regular to this spot if I lived here! I ordered a latte and a white mocha both were 10/10 for me, even if you are looking for more of a sweet drink the mocha was excellent.

Stopped by this cute coffee shop before leaving Fredericksburg. Service was excellent! Atmosphere was nice & relaxing. Had their chilaquiles & a cup of lattewith butterscotch; so good! They also have a nice patio in the back. Highly recommend stopping by!

What a cute little coffee shop! We had the cold brew float and chai tea latte. Both were delicious. I definitely recommend using a straw or spoon to mix in the ice cream in the cold brew float since it is strong cold brew. The chai tea latte is creamy and smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. The service is fast and the interior atmosphere is clean and cute.

Service is excellent! Very friendly even at their busiest. Avocado toast is amazing! Loaded with kale and the seven minute eggs are perfect. Kolaches are huge and filled with flavor. Coffe is excellent. On a hot day, grab the cold brew float. On our three day trip, we ate breakfast here twice.
